Dear Ricardo, Welcome to Melitta! Hey, have you got a motto that really inspires you?
Hello and thanks Sure: You can only find out if something’s going to work if you actually try it – and not just think about it.
And what else gives you energy?
Traveling and sports I like to go jogging in the park after work. Or work out in the gym with my friends.
What makes you run away screaming?
When the day starts without coffee!
So how’s the trainee program going? Where was your first station?
It’s going really well! I was in field sales and technical customer support at Melitta Professional Coffee Solutions in Minden.
Sounds exciting! What did you get up to there?
First I was in the planning department, where the company’s own customer service visits are planned. Then I went with the Munich area sales manager to visit existing customers and potential leads. At a trade fair in Hamburg, I then met our international sales team and was also allowed to advise our international customers – that was really cool! Over the next few weeks I then toured different regions in Germany, East Westphalia, Dusseldorf and Frankfurt, with different colleagues. We sorted out some technical problems with the coffee machines and visited customers. Plenty to see and learn
Sounds like they’re keeping you busy What was your personal highlight?
I thought it was great to get to know colleagues and meet our German customers in person. It was really interesting to tag along and learn how new customer orders are generated.
Is it all easy, or are there any special challenges for you?
Constantly changing stations is the biggest challenge for me. Working in all areas of the Melitta Group means I get to know a lot of colleagues and topics. That’s also the biggest advantage – it’s certainly never boring!
Hey, just wanted to hear how it’s going. You’ve been working in Business Controlling at Cofresco Frischhalteprodukte, haven’t you?
Great to hear from you Exactly, the Toppits® manufacturer.
And what did you do there?
I was very much involved in the adaptation of Strategy Planning 2019. Data from the previous year and the current year, as well as for 2019, was all edited in a master Excel file. This was really important because in the future, the majority of Melitta Group companies will adopt a common strategy. It’s a good feeling to know I’m being involved in such topics
So that’s your personal highlight so far?
Absolutely! I’ve never worked on a file with that much data before – 21 national subsidiaries and three analysis periods. I was super happy when all the data was entered and the result was correct
Have there been any special projects?
Actually, I spent the entire period working on the “strategy planning” project. A better question might be: did you also get involved in daily business?
And did you?
Yes, I did a lot of work here as well. For example, helping with sales evaluations, inquiries about sales and volume figures for specific products over a specific period.
So I guess your period abroad is coming up soon... Where are you going to be working?
In England, at Melitta Professional Coffee Solutions.
What are you looking forward to the most?
New colleagues, exciting tasks and the cultural differences I can expect over the next two months. AND: travelling!! In the run-up to Christmas, I'm definitely going on a trip to London.
